If you receive an e-mail requesting account information with your bank, please notify your bank at once. DO NOT respond to the e-mail.
Several e-mails have been received by other bank’s customers requesting the verification of customer account information. Although the e-mails may “look” official, they are not. The Highlands Bank does not verify information in this manner. They hope to trick you into entering or sending them your login information. Once a criminal has successfully “phished” information from you and/or your account, he/she can use that information to steal your money and your identity.
Please refer to the link below to the FDIC site for information on “Phishing” and other related scams.
